SAIP Forum meeting 21 May 2026: Meeting Note

CAP: Parental Supply Campaign

  • CAP’s pilot parental campaign aims to reduce parental supply of alcohol and will be rolled out in 7 pilot areas. It is based on extensive research commissioned by CAP. This is an evidence-based campaign designed to educate and persuade parents of the benefits of an alcohol-free childhood. The hope is the pilot will lead to a scalable campaign.

  • In Scotland, the project will run in Cumbernauld (tbc) and Viewpark & Bellshill. It will run between September and December. An updated timeline will be provided once finalised.

  • Insights from the Sallis report and focus groups sessions in the pilot areas have informed the campaign’s aims and delivery methodology namely positioning it as a non- judgmental campaign. The messages used in the campaign were tested with 1000 parents.

  • The campaign will use the following channels: social media (Meta), school-based resources a campaign microsite, instore radio and campaign materials and supported with PR activity.

  • There will be a two-part evaluation: Part 1 a survey of 1000 parents to measures changes in awareness, comprehension and any reduction in intent to supply. Part 2: social media metrics, website stats and school/retailer engagement.

  • The forum recognised the work that has gone into getting the campaign to this pilot stage and look forward to receiving further updates.
